Tri-packs’ patented technology is used to seal the edges to provide a strong hygienic pack that is virtually unbreakable, a feature that eliminates the problem of polystyrene bead contamination and blocked drains.

Folding

CoolSeal is delivered flat, pre-folded and packed in bundles, minimising delivery and storage costs. The patented easy-erect design enables the box to be ready in one simple movement, no other assembly is required.

Our pre-folded and pre-glued packs include different options. These can be draining or leak-proof 4-cornered glue styles, or fold-over-end and leak-proof. Low tooling costs enable us to offer many variations to reflect the needs of different customers and markets. Hence we have developed the fold-over-end pack but with drainage, to allow packers to fill the bases and stack them empty, applying the lids later after icing and labelling. The lids can have a special cut away so that the lids do not hide the labels.

In essence the report states the Tri-pack Coolseal box, designed specifically for use in chilled distribution, is fit for purpose in delivering fish in good condition. Thermal insulation values are infinitely better than fibreboard boxes and other alternatives. Coolseal is second best to the insulation values in Polystyrene, but of course the growth of the cold chain has negated the need for this degree of insulation.

Interestingly the report also concludes that in the chilled distribution chain less insulation may be beneficial to allow chilled temperatures to influence the product temperature. A full copy of the report is available for inspection if required.

How Does The Thermal Barrier in CoolSeal Work

Trapped air is the key. Our patented manufacturing process allows us to seal every edge of every pack. We have also developed lightweight yet wide material, which without sealing is weak. Seal the edge however, and the product is transformed, with more air trapped inside. This trapped air in both tray and lid acts rather like double glazing, restriting the flow of temperature very effectively. Around a pallet of fish packed in CoolSeal is a significant wall of trapped air.
